Narrative / About Me

Kurt Rivera is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Supervisor & Director, Certified Addictions Specialist and practice owner with over 17 years of experience in the mental health, forensic psychology, and substance use fields. His work is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based care, with a strong belief that meaningful change occurs when clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood.

Kurt brings a thoughtful, steady, and collaborative presence to therapy, supporting clients as they work through complex trauma, emotional regulation challenges, substance use concerns, and major life transitions. He is known for balancing compassion with directness, helping clients build insight while also developing practical tools for lasting change.

In addition to his clinical work, Kurt has extensive leadership experience in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. As the CEO and Clinical Director of Tranquil Journey Therapy, he oversees clinical services, provides supervision, and ensures ethical, high-quality care across the practice.
